EKOTECT

Ekotect is a newly established design studio based in South Ayrshire, Scotland. The studio believes that architecture is a tool to enrich the lives of those that engage with it. We aim to bring people together and reconnect them to the natural environment using creative design solutions and materiality. Each new project begins with a detailed analysis of the site context and its unique constraints, followed by in-depth research which shapes the design process and construction.

We pride ourselves in being highly engaged with our clients from the first meeting through to project completion to achieve the best possible results and satisfaction. One common challenge in architecture and urban planning is the presentation of information so that people can understand it. For all new projects we use 3D modelling software to communicate design intentions to our clients more clearly. Most recently we have pushed this one step further by allowing our clients to experience their project using Virtual Reality as a means to interact with design at a true 1:1 scale.

Where Architecture Meets Imagination

jamie reid - founder and director

I'm Jamie Reid and I founded Ekotect to offer an open-minded and accessible design studio focused on place and identity.

I studied architecture at the University of Edinburgh and the University of Sheffield, then went on to complete my professional exams with Strathclyde University.

I have been involved in a number of residential, commercial, educational, hotel & leisure projects, which has helped me develop a well-rounded experience of the construction industry. I approach each project with attention to the detail to create minimalist contemporary architecture, personal to its site and user group. As a believer in placemaking, key interests within the industry for me lie within public spaces, community projects and shared living housing.

I am passionate about trending technologies and have undertaken research into the use of Virtual Reality (VR) in aiding clients to understand design more clearly than traditional methods.

Outside of the office, I enjoy exercising, travelling and spending time with my young family
